Message: I read the messages of all the soldiers serving in the old defence force. Apart from completely identifying with each great soldier I can only say "julle is my mense" The TV program Kyknet is now having a program called "Grens Oorlog" every Sunday night. It could be very insightful.

Message: 88232061BG. Was called up Feb 90. SAMC then onto Dog Unit in Bourkes Luck. Camps in 93 for change over. What has happened to our country? A lot of guys gave their lives for their country and their mates. It's as if their sacrifice has been forgotten back home. Good work on the site. It has brought back many good memories of choms, good times and opfoks. It really was one of the finest fighting forces in the world. I'm proud to have served. Never to be forgotten.

Soos hulle se: It was the worst of times/It was the best of times. (Ja ek weet) Wat het vandag oor gebly van die Weermag? Ek sidder om te dink dat hulle iets sal regkry teen Swaziland se weermag. Groete. Gerhard.

Message: 84456995 BG: Those were the hard days, not easy if you were used to the city life. I don't think that the haasmanne ever new what was going on up there, young boys still could be children fighting for their country, well let me tell you men and ladies, I was proud of my country and still am, but let me assure you all it left some damages in our young minds and we still carry it with us even after all these years. It was a great moment in my life and gave me reason to live. I was a ratel driver for 61 Meg Bn and drove in the 0-pakkie group. October 1987-1988. I was in the front line, and glad that I'm still alive today.
