Served in Owamboland sector10, Kangwane RSA/Mozambique border and 4SAI anti-tank squad Ratel 90's on Ops Modular. Fought with 61 mech and 32 battalion. Klaared out Dec 87. Joined SAP Special riot unit 19 and Durban Dog Unit. Left in 1995 to live in UK. Truly the toughest but best days of my life. We must always remember ... |

I served in the SP Wag from 1985-1987 although I never went to the border area we served in the townships of Alexandra and Soweto. Lost a few great mates during my two years. A lot of boys served in the townships basically the real frontline at home during those turbulent times. Maybe you can dedicate a section to the township conflicts of the times? Served for 15 years in the SADF. 1975-1990. 14 Field & 3 SAI Potch and then in Vereeniging Commando. Went to the border 6 x 3 months. We were of the first in 1975 in Operation Savanna. Good and bad memories do we have. We will not forget our buddies who fought side by side and buddies who paid with their lives !!! Proud to have been a part of this history.
