Dis seker die moeilikste ding om te sien hoe word alles waarvoor ons geveg het en trots gebou het nou afgebreek word deur dieselfde mense waarteen ons baklei het n leeftyd terug! Message: Started with my military career during 1975 as an intake at 1SAI. Went to Infantry School at Oudtshoorn for JL's. Made a quick turn at 3 SAI before I was sent to the border. Here me and my mates were sent directly to Perreira D' Ecca in Angola. What a wonderful experience it was. Unfortunately I was shot to pieces during an op and spent 7 months at 1 Mil. Today I have the utmost respect for all the soldiers who fought for their country during the Bushwar. For years now talking of my involvement in this war was a "no go" but I have decided to put my uniform and photos in a glass case and mount it on the wall in my office for all to see.

Message: 80463961 BG - I found the paper, An appraisal of the South African strategy, by Dr Leopold Scholz, absolutely fascinating! It would be great to read even more of this type of information so I really encourage people to add any other literature to this incredible website! I was in the Caprivi during 1988/9 and experienced the implementation of Resolution 435. I was lucky to be one of the teachers demobilised on 1 April 1989 and managed to stay in Namibia until the 31 October 1989. The arrival of the UNTAG forces and interaction with the Finns was truly a remarkable experience. Please, if any other guys have any experiences of this time please submit these! From here in London now, it really seems like a lifetime away.
